Wow...it's been awhile. I had a long hiatus from all things Supernatural - I only watched the Season 10 finale a couple of days before the Season 11 premiere aired in the US. But I'm slowly dipping my toes back into the SPN pool, so let's see what happens.

At the very least, I'll get all the back catalogue stuff posted up.

I originally started posting this on the 27^th of June, 2008. I’d actually come up with the plot bunny and jotted down a few notes and ideas for the story in February 2007. The poor thing languished in my WIP folder for over a year until the muse finally pointed at it and said, yep, that one next.

Special thanks go to a fellow fanfic author – SupernaturalGeek. During the course of writing it, I read her story What Makes You Stronger, and realised to my dismay that certain elements in the story were similar. So I hurriedly sent Michaela the rough draft and she gave her very kind permission for me to continue.

And of course, to my support team, Chasidern and Ziggy, go huge thanks for banner and beta. Oh, and I almost forgot – thanks also to a client I had at the time when I was freelance bookkeeping – a mechanic who assisted me in disabling the Impala – lol.

This is basically me on painkillers – lol. I hurt my back lifting something the wrong way, and was pretty much confined to a chair with an ice-pack for a few hours. And while I was sitting there doped up on the strongest over-the-counter Panadol we could find, and being totally bored because I could barely move...my freaky little brain came up with this little plot bunny.

I virtually wrote it in one sitting...pun intended – see above, confined to a chair. Then spent the next week tweaking it all over the place. And I was surprised and very, very pleased when it won Best Humour 2008 on both sites I’d originally posted it to. It tied with my A to Z of Demonology on SN.TV, actually. *blush, blush*

Anyway, on with it. Thanks as always to my banner-maker and beta - Chasidern and Ziggy. Awesome job, girls. And the usual disclaimer applies – no profit, yadda-yadda, just playing in the sandbox.

I tried to come up with a good reason for Bobby to abandon Sam....lots of angst ensued over whether I'd succeeded. Hope I did....
I also wanted to show Sam as being resourceful in his own right, and not just have him sit down and passively wait for Dean to find him.

I knew sort of how I wanted the story to go, but I had a long way to catch up to my final scene. At long last the muse came back from her extended cruise to parts unknown and helped me write all the missing bits and get it posted.

I know I've been AWOL of late....again....no excuse for the first two weeks of November apart from real life. But for last week and this week I do have a really good excuse - I've been working on something new.

My furry little plot bunny bit me repeatedly after episode 10x03, and I put this together, sent it off to my beta who was almost beside herself with joy, then thought of a hundred things I should have added to it, so sat down and tweaked the whole thing before resending it to my ever-so-patient beta.

So here it is - final editing done, but as I'm a chronic tweaker, all mistakes are mine because I just can't stop fiddling with things.

Many thanks to my super team: the incomparable ziggyuk for her magic editing, and the award-winning Chasidern for another pretty damned spectacular banner.
Thanks also to the website Forever Dreaming - http://foreverdreaming.org/ - for the transcripts of the episodes, from which I got the dialogue quoted in the story. I usually get my transcripts from Supernatural Wiki, but they haven't put up any for Season 10 as yet.

Making no profit out of this - just playing in Kripke's lovely sandbox with his pretty toys for the sheer pleasure of doing so.

The idea for this story came to me after a comment my good friend Windyfontaine made regarding demonic eyes. She mentioned that we'd seen black, yellow and red - perhaps it was time for a different colour - what about fuchsia eyes? And of course, my freaky mind filed it away for future reference. When I finished Broken Images, GotTheShining from Supernaturalville asked me if I would consider doing a prequel, telling how Dean got out of the deal. I said I'd think about it, but I didn't know how I would pull it off, as I had no flipping idea how to get Dean out of his contract. And at the time, I hadn't planned on doing anything about it.

Then quite a few weeks later, I had a bit of an idea, and my wonderful friend, SN sis and beta, Ziggy, helped me flesh it out. (I think I scare her when I say things like - Sarah, I need to pick your brain...lol)

This is the end result. I hope that I have done it justice.

Oh, and one really, really important thing to remember: even though this is the prequel to Broken Images, please don't read this one first. It gives away Broken Image's plot. Read Broken Images first, then come back to this one. Trust me.
